So recently I talked about talking to Doug about seeing other people.
And I talked about Mark.
And I talked about Joe.
The new prospects, if you will...
This is an update to the topic.
Mark and I are just friends and it is going to remain that way, I'm afraid. While we did have mutual attraction, we just both have too many issues. The baggage outweighs us by leaps and bounds. He is a great guy, truly...I just don't see anything besides a buddy vibe there.
He's a hot guy, though...and I am sure that he will be snatched up by some willing hot girl soon. I hope he does...he deserves to be happy.
Then there is Joe. Joe and I never did go on a date, and I spoke of him being maybe a bit of an ass. (that comes from a cruel badly timed joke about a job on his part a little while back) NEVER joke about a great job to a desperate woman who needs one...NOW. SO not funny. UGH.
Anyway...We never did hook up, we did meet for one drink and talked online for awhile.
But...I just wasn't ready to see anyone else. He seemed great for the most part, but I just decided to leave well enough alone. He was ready for a new relationship...I wasn't...it's that simple. We haven't spoken much in the past three weeks, since I retired the idea of dating him, actually. We spoke last night...via this thing, and he informed me that he has found someone.
I was truly happy for him...I'm so glad he got his head away from the idea of my screwed up self and found someone that IS ready. Apprarently, E-Harmony is the way to go.
Expensive as al hell...but, the way to meet your "soulmate"
I truly hope that things work for him and that he doesn't do the guy thing and tell another badly timed joke. LOL
And I am still struggling to get over my Mr. Right.
And all of the Mr. Right Now's are officially retired.
I thought that I needed another warm body to keep me occupied- and the answer to my struggle could just vanish with some new charming guy around to wine and dine me. But...I'm just not the type. In the end, for now that is, dating other people just confused me, rather than serve as the well-timed distraction from my pain that I had hoped for.
What can I say...while the body is willing, the spirit is not budging.
When I love...I love deeply...I love hard...I love completely.
And while I wish I had a switch that could just turn off the longing...sadly, I do not.
I'm still in the stage of comparison.
So- trying to date a string of suitors just made me think about missing him that much more.
And how each quality of each other guy just wasn't him.
There's no substitute for what you consider absolutely, positively right for you.
The worst part:
I know that he doesn't feel the same right now. And that's what hurts the most.
So...I'm in realtionship limbo for now.
I'm stuck here.
Can't move forward.
Can't go back.
Just sitting here...waiting for something good to happen.
Last thought-

When I met Brad I had had enough of dating. I decided that I could do everything alone that I could do with a date. I could go to a movie by myself and eat by myself. It was very liberating. Then I met Brad and I didn't care if we dated or just hung out as friends. We hung out as friends before we started to date and got to know each other as friends. If I hadn't worked on myself first we may not have even been friends. We might have been a disasterous first date and nothing more.
Take care of yourself. The rest will fall into place with time. Take a hot bubble bath and listen to music. Light a candle just for you to enjoy. Make yourself a nice dinner. You deserve it. No one will ever make you feel as good as you can make yourself feel. Just take the time and effort to take care of yourself and your spirit.
